Martha Anne Carpenter

Martha Anne Carpenter, 81, of Bessemer City, went home to be with Jesus, Saturday, December 13, 2025 at her home.

A native of Gaston County, she was born on April 11, 1944, to the late Edward and Vergie Brooks.

Martha was a life long member of 1st Assembly of God, where she served as a nursery caregiver for over 40 years. Martha was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Gastonia bowling league. She loved to travel, especially going on cruises. She will be missed more than words can say.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Kimberly Lingerfeldt (Alan), Tammy Lewis (Stephen); son, Richard Carpenter; sisters, Carolyn Graham (David), Donna Whatley (David); brother, David Brooks (Shannon); nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; life long special friend, Jolene Pruitt; several special great-nieces.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Furman Carpenter.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 pm on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, A visitation will be held an hour before the service. Following the service she will be laid to rest at Gaston Memorial Park.
