BYRON, GA – Martha Ann (Keen) Carter, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Born on July 17, 1934, in Glenwood, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Tucker) Keen. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Martha found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved spending time outdoors working in her yard, piecing together puzzles, and cheering on her favorite team, the Atlanta Braves. Her faith was unwavering, and she was a dedicated member of Porterfield Baptist Church. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Gene Carter, who passed in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her twin daughters, Judy and Sandra Carter; her sons, Donnie Carter and Andy Carter; and her brothers, Grady Keen and Bobby Keen. Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Sheila Grube (Jeff) of Warner Robins, GA, and her son, Dale Carter (Michelle Carroll) of Hawkinsville, GA. Martha's legacy also lives on through her seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. A private, family-only graveside service will follow on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Upson Memorial Gardens in Thomaston, GA. With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements. Martha will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
