Martha Louise Hinton Lavender, 87, of Greenville, South Carolina, loving wife of David Earl Lavender, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Born in Easley, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Frank Wyatt and Mary Evelyn Burdette Hinton. Louise graduated from Welcome High School in the class of 1955 and continued her education at Droughon's Business College. She built a successful career as an insurance underwriter, working for several agencies including William Rosenfeld Insurance Agency, American Insurance Agency, and finally retiring from Goldsmith Real Estate and Insurance, which was later acquired by BB&T. Her family was the heart of her life. Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always putting her loved ones first. Her warmth and care were felt deeply by all who knew her. In addition to her professional achievements, Louise enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She and her husband were active members of Good Sam's Club since 1992, where they formed lasting friendships and created memories through camping trips with fellow members. She had a talent for crocheting and knitting, often creating beautiful items for her family. Louise also loved Western Square Dancing, an activity she cherished doing alongside her husband.
In addition to her loving husband of 66.5 years, Louise is survived by three daughters, Donna Garrett (Lee) of Calhoun Falls, South Carolina, Patty Gilstrap (Tony) of Easley, South Carolina, and Kim Posey (Arney) of Greenville, South Carolina; one brother, Gene Hinton of Easley, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Brian Garrett (Emily), Josh Garrett (Bhesiel), Anthony Gilstrap (Kristen), Haley Starling (Nick), Emily Jeffords (Christian), Zach Posey, and Hayden Posey; five great-grandchildren, Eli Garrett, Parks Garrett, Josie Garrett, Everly Gilstrap, and Lauren Gilstrap; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Frank Wyatt Hinton, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Charlene Mangle and Latonia Mack with Crescent Hospice, as well as the staff of SC Home Care Solutions for their excellent care.
