Martha Ann House Lehman was born in Naples, Texas on October 12, 1943, and passed away on September 21, 2025, in Bryan, Texas at the age of 81. She was the daughter of Johnnie Rhae Simons and Garnet Reed House.
Martha graduated from Conroe High School in 1962, attended Sam Houston State for a year before marrying Arthur Walker in 1964, and starting a career as a business assistant. She had four daughters, one of whom died in early childhood. Martha was remarried in 1983 to David Lehman, and they were married forty-two years at the time of her passing.
Family was the heart and purpose of Martha’s life, as she was a dedicated and committed mother to her three daughters, and she was a loyal and loving wife. In addition to managing her daughters’ schedules and activities as she was raising them, she worked full-time as an office assistant and later as a nurse’s aide. She was involved with Weight Watchers for nearly forty years as both a client and later on as a staff member. She was an avid reader, who especially liked romance novels, and she faithfully followed her soap operas. Martha was also a wonderful cook and baker and was most well-known for her Christmas Fruit Cookies and her German Chocolate cake, which was a required dessert at all family functions. Martha instilled in her daughters a love of reading, a strong work ethic and a commitment to family.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Rhae and Garnet House; her siblings, Mary Jane House Mizwa, James (Jim) House, and Judy House Moran; and her daughter, Cynthia Ann Walker. She is survived by her husband, David Lehman; brother, Jerry House, Sr. and wife, Cynthia; sister-in-law, Karen Alford House Morrison; daughter, Kimberley Walker Gonzalez and husband, Leopoldo Gonzalez, II; daughter, Stephanie Scott and husband, Seth Scott; and daughter, Jennifer Walker and husband, James Lindsey. She is also survived by grandchildren, Lauren Gonzalez, Riley Scott, Isabella Gonzalez, Colin Scott, Trey Gonzalez and Kelsie Scott, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service honoring the life of Martha's life will be held 11 A.M., Friday, October 3, 2025, at Evans Chapel Global Methodist Church, Leona, Texas. Rev. Jerry House will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Evans Chapel Cemetery.
