Martha Violeta Miller, affectionately known as Marta, passed away on January 15, 2025, in
Slidell, Louisiana, at the age of 61. She courageously battled pancreatic cancer, demonstrating her strength and grace even through her final days. Marta was born on November 18, 1963, in Antiguo Cuzcatlan, La Libertad, San Salvador, El Salvador, and brought light and love into every space she entered.
Marta's early life in El Salvador was filled with the vibrant culture and warmth of her homeland. She carried this warmth with her when she moved to the United States, where she would later establish her family and home. Her husband, Ricky A. Miller, was her partner in life's journey for over four decades, sharing countless memories and unconditional love.
Together, Marta and Ricky were blessed with two sons, Alan R. Miller and Erick L. Miller. Marta took great pride in her role as a homemaker, nurturing her family with the same loving care that characterized her entire being. Her daughter-in-law, Kristy Miller (Alan), and her cherished grandchildren, Kinsley R. Miller and Brady A. Miller, brought immense joy to her life. Marta's love for her family knew no bounds, and she was a constant source of encouragement and support for each of them. Martha is also survived by her two sisters, Esmeralda Mancia and Yanira Urrutia, along with their husbands and children; her beloved Aunt Tere Dubon and family; Ana de Calvo and family; as well as her cousins, the Mejia Quintanilla and Dubon Mejia families. Additionally, Marta leaves behind good friends who will always cherish her love and care.
Marta's educational journey included completing high school and attending college, which laid the foundation for her lifelong love of learning and personal growth. Her intelligence and curiosity were evident to all who knew her, and she had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Although Marta's professional life was centered around her role as a homemaker, her empathetic nature and faith-filled spirit helped those in need. Traveling was one of Marta's greatest passions. She delighted in exploring new places and experiencing different cultures. Her adventurous spirit was infectious, and she often reminisced about the trips she took with her family and friends. Marta also enjoyed shopping, a pastime that was not just about acquiring things but about the joy of finding the perfect gifts to express her love and thoughtfulness to others.
Those who knew Marta would describe her as loving, thoughtful, and faith-filled. Her compassionate demeanor and genuine concern for others were her hallmarks. Marta's faith guided her through life's challenges and triumphs, and she was a beacon of hope and inspiration to her family and community.
Marta's presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
