LANCASTER, SC ~ Martha Miller, 88 of Lancaster, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep, surrounded by her loved ones, on Saturday August 16, 2025. She was born on March 24, 1937, in Franklin County, Indiana to Urban and Catherine (Nee Zins) Baker. She married Robert Miller on December 29, 1956, at St Mary's of the Rock Church. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1994.

She was selfless in her love and devotion to her family and was a faith-filled woman who was dedicated to daily prayer for her family and the needs of many others. She spent many years caring for her children and grandchildren, for which we will never be thankful enough. Although she has lived in several states in her life, Indiana is home. In later years, her favorite pastime was spending time on her front porch where there was always a gathering of family, along with many hummingbirds.

She is survived by her children, Phillip (Lynne) Miller of Batesville, IN, Michelle (Brian) Sanders of Lancaster, SC, Christine (Dan) Quigley, Laura (Bill) Martin, Amy (Jay) Hicks of Charlotte, NC, and Robert Miller of Grand Rapids, MI. She has thirteen (13) grandchildren and seventeen (17) great grandchildren. Her brother Dave (Carol) Baker of Batesville, IN has also survived her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Stewart and Elizabeth (Betty) Gigrich, and her mother-in-law, Marie Miller. She also has lifelong friends who have survived her and love her dearly.

Martha's wishes were to be cremated, with a private Celebration of Life later. Memorials may be sent in her memory to Charlotte Rescue Mission-Doves Nest, https://charlotterescuemission.org/get-involved/donate/, a program that was instrumental in a family member's start on her road to recovery.
