Martha Ann Boadle Nichols "Marti" of Boonville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Marti was born on March 17th, 1952, in Big Spring, Texas to Robert and Cynthia Boadle. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1970. She met Jerry Nichols at the American Legion dances, married him that December, and they spent the next 20 years traveling the world with the United States Air Force. Their family lived in Texas, Okinawa, Japan, Wheeler AFB - Oahu, Hawaii, Montgomery, Alabama, Jacksonville, Arkansas, Scott AFB, Illinois, Shalimar, Florida, before settling in Boonville, Missouri in 1993.
Marti earned her bachelor's degrees in mathematics and chemistry at the University of West Florida and later a master's degree in education from Columbia College. She taught math and chemistry at several schools including Jamestown, Kemper Military School and College, West Middle School, Hickman High School, and State Fair Community College.
Marti was always busy. She was particularly adept at genealogy research, fly-fishing, playing real Chinese Mah Jongg, traveling, and quilting. Oh, quilting was a passion, maybe owing to her love of Geometry. She had many hobbies, but she loved her family the most.
Marti was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Cynthia Boadle; and one son, Martin Luther Nichols.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Nichols of Boonville. Other survivors include her children: Kate Nichols Porterfield (James) of Prairie Home, and Matt and Mike Nichols both of Boonville; two grandchildren: Jacob and Joshua Porterfield; sisters: Mona Boadle and Marie Boadle Sanders of Winnsboro, Texas, and Debra Boadle Meador of Midland, Texas; two sisters in law, Penny Shern of Columbia and Marsha Coleman of Fulton; aunt, Sandra Smith of Queensbury, New York, and Uncle Roland Anderson of Brattleboro, Vermont. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials are suggested to the Public Education charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Howard Funeral Home, 1397 Ashley Rd., Boonville, Mo 65233 (660) 882-3381. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.howardfh.com.
