Martha Jane Rezac (Wood), born on October 13, 1934, in Topeka, Kansas, passed away on November 18, 2024, in Rossville, Kansas. A daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Martha leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family.
Martha graduated from Rossville High School and began her career working at Bell Telephone in Topeka.
Martha was married to Ernest Rezac on December 13, 1952 in Rossville at the Rossville Christian Church. He preceded her in death in January of 2018.
She devoted her life to her family, serving as a devoted homemaker while also working long hours alongside her husband, Ernest, on their family farm north of Silver Lake. Her commitment to her family was evident in every aspect of her life, and she took pride in creating a nurturing and loving environment for her children and grandchildren.
Martha was known for her vibrant personality. She possessed a genuine love for her grandchildren, which deeply enriched her life. As an amazing cook, she delighted her family with delicious homemade pies and often shared this joy through her generous spirit. Her passion for gardening also brought her immense satisfaction, as she maintained a big garden that provided for both her kitchen and her family gatherings.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Dennis) Prior, and her son, David (Vicki) Rezac. Martha's love extended to her six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, who will remember her warmth and culinary prowess.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Wood, husband, Ernest Rezac, her daughter, Nancy Dickerson, and her brother, Frank Wood. Their memories will remain cherished within the hearts of those who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys, Kansas, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2024. A graveside service will take place at Rossville Cemetery on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions in Martha’s memory may be made to the KU Endowment-Alzheimers Research, 3901 Rainbow Blvd.Kansas City, KS 66160.
Martha Jane Rezac will forever be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her culinary talents, and her beautiful garden. Her spirit will live on through the many lives she touched and the countless memories she created.
