Martha Ruth Rodgers, age 92, passed away peacefully in her home on September 1, 2025, in White Hall, Arkansas. Born in Springhill, Louisiana to parents KW and Thelma Byrd, she lived a life devoted to her family, her faith, and her community.
She was the beloved wife of JW Rodgers, affectionately known as "Bug," whom she married on April 14, 1949.
Martha is survived by her children, Deborah Caldwell (Billy), and Joey Rodgers; grandchildren Matthew Johnson (Emily), Jeff Rodgers, Kristin Caldwell, and Kelly Robbins (Charles). Her legacy continues with her great grandchildren, Jeffrey Rodgers (MaKenzie), Marina Rodgers, Phoenix Caldwell, Arianna Jackson, and Lily Robbins; as well as great-great grandchildren Oakley, Olive, and Onyx Rodgers.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, a loving brother, Jackie Byrd, and sister, Jeraldine Crouch.
For over four decades, Martha was a loyal member of Hardin Baptist Church, and her faith was unwavering-if the church doors were open, she was going to be there. She found joy and fellowship through any church event that brought people together and in Red Hatter activities.
Martha had a special love for nature and animals. This was due not only to the countless trips she and JW took traveling the parks and backroads of the U.S. but also to her kind and gentle spirit. She especially adored her feline companion, Zoe, and welcomed the numerous yard cats that made their way to her doorstep.
A lifelong health and fitness enthusiast, Martha ran countless races throughout Arkansas and across the United States. Completing two marathons was among her proudest fitness accomplishments.
Martha Rodgers leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, generosity, strength, and love that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
There will be a memorial service in her honor on Sunday, September 7, at 2:00 PM at Hardin Baptist Church, 300 Todd Lynn Dr., White Hall, AR 71602.
Her family wishes to thank Sherry Edwards and her team of caregivers at TriUne Care for their exemplary devotion, care, and guidance to Martha and her family.
Martha believed in giving back and helping others and she consistently made charitable contributions to a variety of causes. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests a donation to the charity of your choice to honor her compassionate spirit.
