Martha J. Saunders, 80, a resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully at Prescott Nursing Facility in North Andover, on Monday, August 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter F. Saunders.
She was born in Concord on November 5, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Robert C., Sr. and Catherine J. (MacDearmid) Blake.
Martha worked hard for her family her whole life. She was the first Female Custodian in the Dracut School system. She loved to travel, especially to Nova Scotia during blueberry season to visit with The Canadian Cousins and family. She loved spending time with her favorite cousin Sandi, drinking Tea and playing Cribbage. She would spend entire afternoons with the ladies in the neighborhood, watching soap operas, drinking homemade ice coffee and knitting. She enjoyed camping in Salisbury with her friend Moe. Her door was always open for anyone needing kindness and many kids over the years looked to her as a second Mom.
Martha is survived by her three beloved children, Lynn Saunders of Dracut, MA, Jennifer Grealy and her husband John of Medford, MA and Peter Saunders and his wife Sheri of Lowell, MA, her grandchildren, Joshua and Sidney Saunders and Madelyn Grealey, her sister in law Sandra Blake of Bedford, MA. Her nieces, Bonnie Foust of Billerica, MA and Becky Jones and her husband Scott of Arlington, MA and her Nephew James Blake and his wife Theresa of Chelmsford, MA. And her very best friend in life Patricia Mullins of New Port Richey, FL and her many children and grandchildren that Martha loved as her own nieces and nephews.
She is pre-deceased by her beloved brother, Robert C. Blake, Jr. of Bedford, MA.
Per the family's request, all services will be privately held.
