Martin "Marty" Bear Cincinnati, OH • Indian Trail, NC
Martin "Marty" Bear, 74, passed away on February 7, 2025. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he had been a resident of Indian Trail, North Carolina, since 1995.
Marty dedicated much of his career to the food service industry before finishing his working years at Killingsworth Environmental. A hardworking man through and through, he also delivered newspapers for The Charlotte Observer for over a decade. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 50 years, Janice "Jan", and a loving father to his three sons: Brian of Clarksville TN, Jeremy of Lilburn GA, and Gregory of Asheville NC. He is also survived by his daughters-in-law, Janna and Jennifer. Marty was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Elizabeth "Abby" (20) and Bryce "Bubba" (13), children of Brian and Janna, and Cameron (14) and Ashlyn (11), children of Jeremy and Jennifer.
Marty was a lazy river connoisseur with a deep love for baseball, a passion for reading, and an enduring enthusiasm for fantasy football. He will be remembered for his work ethic, kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family.
A service to honor Marty's life will be held at VFW Post 2423, 100 VFW Ln, Indian Trail, NC 28079 on Monday, February 24th at 11 AM.
