Martin Ederer, beloved husband of June Ederer, was born November 4, 1931, in New York City, but resided in Yonkers since his marriage in 1958. He served in the US Army in Korea during the Korean War. Upon his return from service, he attended Columbia University and was founder and proprietor of Martin Ederer, Inc. (textile converter).
Martin was a dedicated docent at the Bronx Zoo for twenty-five years, pursuing his life-long interest in zoology. He was also proprietor of the Ramblewood Inn, Sheffield, MA and a member of the Kuder Island Colony, Hen Island, Rye, NY.
After his retirement, Martin taught at BOCES and at the Hallen School in New Rochelle as a licensed teacher's assistant.
An enthusiastic quoter of Shakespeare, he also loved sailing, world travel and theater.
In addition to his beloved wife, June, he is survived by his four sons, Mark (Carmen), Gareth (Marybeth), Richard (Shannon) and Glenn (Meg) and his beloved grandchildren, Michelle, Nicole, Danielle, Jeannine, Gary, Maureen, Courtney, Ashley & Madison as well as his great grandchildren, Hayden, Sawyer & Story.
The family will be present on at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services - 732 Yonkers Avenue - Yonkers, New York 10704 (914) 375-1400 - www.frswfh.com. A at St. John the Baptist Church, 670 Yonkers Avenue- Yonkers, New York 10704. Following the mass, he will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue- Hawthorne, New York 10532.
