MARQUETTE MI - Martin Steven Furlane, age 82, of Marquette, passed away February 2, 2025, at UP Health System-Marquette, in the loving care of his family.
Martin was born in Joliet, Illinois. Martin was the son of Frank and Johanna (Gollick) Furlane, and was raised in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Township High School. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as an 0311 Infantry Rifleman with 1st Battalion 9th Marines for four years.
Following his military service, he embarked on a career in the construction industry, where he worked with dedication and skill. On August 10, 1965, Martin married Kathryn Ferretti. The couple initially made their home in Joliet before settling in Marquette.
An avid outdoorsman, Martin found great joy in fishing, hunting, and raising Labrador dogs. He was a 25-year member of the Negaunee Rod and Gun Club, where he spent many cherished moments with friends and fellow enthusiasts. Known for his wit, humor, and knack for storytelling, he had a unique way of doing things and always left a lasting impression on those around him.
Martin is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his children, Marty (Ann Marie) Furlane of Arlington, Virginia, Valerie (Guy) Marcucci, Mathew Furlane of Marquette, and Joseph (Jennifer) Furlane of Shorewood, Illinois; a grandson, Lucas Furlane of Shorewood, Illinois; his sister, JoAnn Morrison; and a brother, Richard Furlane. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Honoring Martin's request, no public services will be held.

Hello Kay, I´m so sorry for your loss, my mom passed on the sad news...Please know despite the many, MANY years gone by-she is always there for you, & only a phone call away.

An odd remembrance, but this photo hangs on our home back bar...one of my favorites!
