Martin J. Keane Jr. "Marty" (67) passed peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday September 27th, 2024 in Stafford Springs CT. Marty grew up in Enfield Connecticut, joined the US Navy in 1974, working in the engine room aboard the U.S.S. Point Defiance. After his honorable discharge in 1977, Marty went on to get married and have seven kids. He worked as a diesel mechanic, fixing tractor trailers and heavy machinery. Marty was a family man. He loved Fleetwood Mac, the Boston Red Sox, and watching old westerns on TV. He is predeceased by his father Martin J. Keane, mother Arlene "Pat" Keane, and uncle James Keane. He is survived by his sister Dawn Keane, who he grew very close to and cared for deeply, his two bothers Michael and Matthew Keane, his wife Tina Keane and seven adult children, Nancy, Martin, Daniel "Luke", Justin, Jeremy, Rhiannon and Sarah, who he had a special relationship with and who became his caregiver in his final years allowing him to remain home with the people he loved the most. He is also the best Papa to all of his grandchildren.
Aside from family, Marty developed close connections with a number of people, including his friends at the Apolistic Christian Church in Ellington, and his hospice nurses Kristie and Tammy, who went above and beyond for him and Sarah.
Calling hours will be held on Monday 10/7 at 10 am, followed by service at 11 at Longview Fellowship Center, 34 Middle Butcher Rd, Ellington, CT. For online condolences, please visit www.leetestevens.com.
