Martin Keil Obituary

Martin August Keil, 35, of Westminster, MD passed away on January 2nd 2025 at BridgingLife surrounded by loving family.
Martin was born on October 13th 1989 in Bielefeld Germany, the son of Horst Keil and Martina Schulze-Keil.
Martin met his future wife, Rachel Dicken, while working as an intern at Penguin Random House during the summer or 2014. He returned to Germany to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Business Management at University in Regensburg. Once completed, Martin immigrated to the US and married Rachel on March 14th 2019 (Pi Day) after 5 years of maintaining an intercontinental relationship.
After migrating, Martin became a District Manager at Aldi which filled him with pride because it kept him connected to his German roots. He was also very proud that he became a dual American-German Citizen on October 30th 2024.
Martin loved to travel and become immersed in new cultures. He was always excited for new adventures from traineeships throughout Europe, to working on a farm in Australia, to a university exchange in Bali, and anywhere in-between. Martin loved to experience the wild of nature through camping, hiking, biking, and paddle boarding when given the opportunity. He was also an avid lover of all creatures with 4 legs and you would often find him laying on the floor with any dog that was inclined to cuddle.
Remaining to cherish Martin's memory are his parents, Horst Keil and Martina Schulze-Keil; his sister, Anne Keil; his wife, Rachel Dicken; and his nieces and nephews, Logan, Aubrey, Kiera, and Gavin McHenry.
A celebration of Martin's life will be scheduled at a future date.
Memorial Donations in Martin's memory may be directed to BridgingLife, Westminster, MD or the Carroll County Humane Society.
