Martin "Marty" Straka, 89, of Shawano, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly on
September 3, 2025. Marty was born November 12, 1935, in Aniwa, Wisconsin the son of
John and Barbara (Brunner) Straka, and fostered by Leo and Lorraine Blemke and family.
He married Joyce Mullins on May 14, 1960, who preceded him in death. They lived in Antigo,
Wisconsin and Stephenson, Michigan. He remarried Rosie Fierek on November 3, 2024,
and they resided in Shawano, Wisconsin.
Marty retired after 22 years in the United States Marine Corp. and Army Reserves
combined. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards with friends and family, dancing to polka
music, going for nature walks and he loved horseback riding. He also enjoyed reading the
bible and was active in several churches.
Marty is survived by his wife Rosie and her family, son Wayne Straka of Florida, daughter
Michelle (Robert) Urbanc of Michigan, daughter-in-law, Kim Straka of Alabama, sister-inlaw,
Sherry Conley of Crandon, brother-in-law, Ken Mullins of Crandon, six grandchildren
and great grandchildren, and several Blemke family members.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, foster parents, son, John, brothers, Leo and
Dick, sisters, Margaret and Mary, brothers-in-law, Clarence and Alvin, and sister-in-law,
Joanne Mullins.
A celebration of life will be held on October, 11, 2025 at the American Legion Hall in
Crandon at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Pastor John Brensinger
will preside. Military Honors will be conducted following the memorial service. Luncheon
to follow.
