Marvin Wesley Barnett Jr. (Wes), 81, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on October 3, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Wes was born on February 11, 1944, in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from Scottsboro High School in 1962 and then attended Florence State University, where he earned a degree in Biology. He worked as a biologist in the Birmingham Health Department for six years before beginning a lifelong and successful career in sales. Wes was an avid golfer, an excellent softball player, a passionate Alabama football fan, and a member of the Shriners Hospital at Zamora Temple. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, humor, and strong work ethic. Wes is survived by his wife, Jessie Delle (Hicks) Barnett, brother Edward (Ed) Barnett (Nancy) and sister Jane Gardener (Vance) his children, Julie Achord (Kelly), Chadwick Barnett (Tracie), and Steve Lackey. HIs grandchildren: Nathan Allen, Weston Allen, Holly Barnett, Mitchell Allen, Russ Barnett and Trent Lackey as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Marvin Wesley Barnett, Sr. (Becky) and Dorothy Butler Lyles (John), and sisters Gloria Goss and Cathy Neifeh. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro, Alabama on Monday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements Entrusted to Scottsboro Funeral Home
