Marvin Eugene Hicks was born May 23, 1937 to Floyd Hicks and Bessie Kemp in Rock Port, Mo. He spent his childhood and teen years helping on the family farm. He graduated from Central High School in Springfield. While there, he made great friendships that last to this very day. After graduation he got a job at Link Automotive and met a co-worker who would become the love of his life, Carroll L. Hicks. They were married on November 21, 1958 and God gave them 66 ½ years together until mom's passing on April 6, 2023.
Marvin became a Springfield Firefighter shortly after marriage and spent 30 plus years in that career and retired as an engineer. On his days off he worked for Artwine Plumbing for many years and later started his own "one man" business, mostly plumbing new homes.
After his firefighting and plumbing career, he continued to work as a home builder. He built houses for both his children, David and Ronda as well as several for friends.
He was completely devoted to Carroll. Every night he was at the fire station he would call at 7pm sharp so they could catch up on the day.
He was an equally devoted father. Almost everything he did, he did it with his family. Summertime at Table Rock Lake camping, skiing & fishing and fall and winter camping and riding motorcycles at Chadwick.
Marvin professed Christ as Savior as a child. He and Carroll were long time faithful members of Second Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carroll L Hicks, his father and mother, Floyd and Bessie Hicks, and his sister, Dorothy Martin.
He is survived by his son, David and wife, Cammie of Ozark, MO, daughter, Ronda, of Springfield, granddaughters, Tiffany Ross and husband, Chris of Springfield, Brittany Brosseau and husband, Kaleb of Crane, MO and greatgrandchildren, Parker Ross, Roman Ross, Brennan Brosseau, Crew Ross, Barret Brosseau and Ezra Ross and host of many friends and family that he dearly loved.

Marvin and Carroll were wonderful people, very nice neighbors and good friends to my parents who lived two doors South of them. I am very sorry I missed the notice until today, and my condolences to Ronda and David.
