Marvin C "Charlie" Kisamore
Oct. 22, 1949- March 3, 2025
Charlie passed away peacefully among family and friends on the evening of March 3, 2025 at his home in Dentsville. Charlie was born in Petersburg, West Virginia. He was the oldest son of the late Mae Ann (Simpson) Kisamore and the late Marvin Kisamore both from Cabins, West Virginia.
Charlie's life began in West Virginia, a small boy who was quiet, kind and very poor. Times were hard and work for his father was scarce at best. By 1955 they had moved to Virginia, New York and then settled in Charles County, Maryland. Charlie would spend the rest of his life in Charles County.
Charlie grew up a popular kid who enjoyed many interests such as cars and football. He played football for Pomonkey High School where he graduated in 1968. There were a lot of stories told of his adventures as a teenager such as drag racing the family car at the drag strip and changing the transmission in it when he blew it up while his mom and dad were away.
Charlie worked as an attendant at the Bryans Road Texaco, a machinist apprentice at the Indian Head Naval Base in the machine shop, and with his father doing construction work. Charlie wanted more out of life and in 1972, he applied to the Charles County Sheriff's Department. He was hired in October of 1972 and he spent 20 years on the department. He excelled at his career, being awarded officer of the year multiple times by the Waldorf Jaycees. Charlie was a field training officer to many officers that joined the department. His greatest achievement on the department was his time spent in K-9 with his partner Sarge, an all-black German Shepherd that was the meanest dog we ever saw. During his time in K-9, Charlie and Sarge were responsible for over 50 percent of the felony arrests in their unit.
Charlie decided to continue helping Charles County by becoming a county commissioner, an office he held for four years. He sat on multiple committees and spent time in Annapolis trying to better serve his beloved county.
In retirement, he opened Pat's Mighty Minis where he performed small jobs with his equipment. He spent his days with Pat Gladwell and her family enjoying camping, blue grass festivals and being Pop Pop to the grandchildren who he was so very proud of.
In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his sister Charlotte Ann Kisamore and his long-time partner who he loved with all his heart, Patricia Gladwell.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Jennifer Becraft and her husband BJ, grandchildren Hailey and her husband, Anthony, Heather, Gracie and Sophie. Stepdaughter Katie and her husband Michael Jenkins, grandchildren Billy and his wife, Rachel, Jessica, Ashleighly and Corissa, and great grandson, little Billy. Brother Michael Kisamore and his wife Ginger nieces Rebecca and Heidi and her husband Mitchell. Nephew Brian Kisamore his wife Taylor great niece Chloe and great nephew Milo. And his couch partner ET.
The family will receive family and friends on Friday March 14, 2025 from 5PM to time of service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Home 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will be private at a later date.
