Marvin L. Lehnert, age 77, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 22, 2023.
Survived by his wife of 40 years, Theresa Lehnert; children, Christopher (Trisha) Lehnert and Sandy (Chris) Hammack; grandchildren, Ayden and Autumn. Numerous nieces, cousins and friends also survive.
Preceded in death by his son, Marvin Lehnert Jr.; mother, Dorothy (Skinny) Clegg; brothers, Richard and Roger Lehnert.
Marvin's passions included bowling, golfing, his family, and more importantly his grandchildren. Going to their sporting events and spending time with them took priority. He used to take Chris fishing and continued the tradition with Ayden which was a highlight for Ayden because spending time with Grandpa was a special time. On a recent trip to Walt Disney World, Ayden was afraid to ride Space Mountain, decided he wanted to go on the ride and asked Grandpa to go on with him. Marvin's face lit up like a Christmas tree as he took Chris when he was little. He took Autumn to cheer, tumbling and softball practices and went to all of their events and games. Marvin never met a stranger. He would strike up a conversation with anybody, especially a person with any kind of a military background as he proudly served in the US Navy.
He will be missed by many but not forgotten.
Visitation for Marvin will be held at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431 on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. As it was Marvin's request, cremation rites will be accorded following services.
