Nancy Lehnert, born on June 25, 1939, to Harley and Gladys Lehnert in Toledo, Ohio, passed away on March 5, 2025, in Dearborn, Michigan.
Nancy graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo in 1957 and Bowling Green State University in 1961, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education. Her graduate work was done at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she received her master's degree in education in 1965.
Nancy taught English and literature at Annapolis High School in Dearborn Heights for 30 years. After retiring, she worked with special needs students at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Nancy was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Dearborn, where she sang in the choir for more than 40 years. She also sang in the Dearborn Community Chorus and the Dearborn Summer Chorus.
Nancy was a respected and admired teacher who will be fondly remembered by her students and many faithful friends. She was a kind, caring person who extended herself to help others throughout her life.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Barbara Fowler, beloved niece Elizabeth Fowler and nephew Todd (Amber) Fowler, and cousin Susan Kudelka. Additionally, her cousins Jerry and Debbie Knierim of Toledo were of enormous help to Nancy and did everything possible to see that she was well cared for during her extended illness.
A memorial service will be held this spring.
