Marvis Jean Penner Dezarn, a beloved resident of London, Kentucky, was born on August 1, 1946, in Jamestown, New York. She was the cherished daughter of the late Merritt Donald Penner and Dorothy Vanquilder. Marvis was united in marriage to her devoted husband, Bill Dezarn, who survives her in London.
Marvis is also survived by her daughter, Kim Goodrich and husband Bruce of London, and her son, Don Dezarn of Richmond, Kentucky. She was a proud grandmother to Mackenzie George, Logan George and wife Natalie, and Kayden Goodrich, all residing in London. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Elijah and Hayden, along with a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Marvis was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Betty Dezarn, and her sisters, Marcia Dezarn and Marlene Bowling.
Marvis dedicated her career as an assistant accountant at Willis CPA and was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in London. She was renowned for her sewing skills, particularly in crafting beautiful wedding and prom dresses. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent babysitting and hosting them overnight. Marvis was also known for her immaculate housekeeping and her famous Christmas cookies, which are fondly remembered by friends and family.
The funeral service for Marvis Jean Dezarn will be conducted at 1 pm Thursday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Sean Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in A.R. Dyche Memorial Park in London.
The family of Marvis Jean Dezarn will receive friends beginning at 12 noon Thursday until the funeral hour of 1 pm at Bowling Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Logan George, Bruce Goodrich, Don Schell, Bill Chesnut, Shon Sergent and Noah Collett.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, 301 W. Fifth Street, London, Kentucky 40741. You may donate online by clicking here.
