It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Badgley, who left this world on August 31, 2025, at the age of 64. She was born on October 9, 1960, in Danville, IL to parents, Ralph and Mary (King) Berry. She married her beloved husband, Phil Badgley, in McHenry, IL on April 4, 2003. They cherished 22 wonderful years together.
Mary dedicated over 40 years of her professional life as an underwriter in the insurance industry, where her skilled expertise and dedication earned her the respect of her colleagues. Mary was a multi-talented individual who thrived in her passions. She found joy in cooking for her friends and family and gardening. She loved her flowers, especially lilacs. Her gift as a seamstress reflected her love for creating and caring with her hands.
As a proud wife to Phil, Mary embraced her blended family with love and dedication, and her warmth and nurturing spirit made her a steadfast supporter of those she held dear. She was a spirited fan of the Chicago Cubs and took great delight in watching sports, particularly her favored University of Illinois college basketball team.
Mary's presence would light up any room, and her busy nature kept her actively engaged in her community and family life. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary is survived by her husband: Phil Badgley; her children: Joe (Amie) Sobeski, Katie (Jeremy) Sobeski, Andrew Sobeski, Daniel (Christina) Badgley, Brad Badgley, Erin (Mark) Rotundo, Michelle (Paul) Heber, Kelly Badgley, Mark Badgley, David (Danielle) Badgley, Nicholas Badgley, Ashley Badgley, Zachary Badgley, Jaqueline (Adam) Pieroni, and Abigail (late Matthew) Horney; her grandchildren: Josh Badgley, Caleb Badgley, Nathan Rotundo, Gabriel Badgley, Lynda Rotundo, Nolan Rotundo, Leah Badgley, Carter Owens, Morgan Heber, Deacon Badgley, Ellie Badgley, Kinsley Rogala, Jacob Heber, Isaac Horney, Emmett Sobeski, and Cayla Badgley; and her siblings: Robert (Dena) Berry, Michael Berry (Anne Wolf-Berry), Nancy (Charles) Lohrstofer, Patty (Richard) Mclain, and James Berry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister: Karen Berry Courter, and her son-in-law: Matthew Horney.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Colonial Funeral Home in McHenry, IL from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McHenry, IL at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
