Mary was born February 16, 1933 in White County, Indiana to the late Herman and Elda (DeBoy) Mills. Her marriage was to George E. Baker on October 4, 1952 in Springfield, Tennessee. He passed away in 2014. Mary was a graduate of Round Grove High School and attended Lafayette Business College. She worked in production at Landis Gyr, formerly Duncan Electric, for many years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Mary is survived by her children, Bruce (Beverly) Baker of Decatur, Alabama, Kirk (Brenda) Baker of Lafayette, and Rick (Lori) Baker of Lafayette; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by five sisters, Sylvia McDaniel, Vivian Bartholomew, Bernice Danahar, Florence Young, and Elizabeth Slattery; three brothers, Ralph Mills, Robert Mills, and John Mills.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with the service beginning at 2:00 PM at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N. 9th Street in Lafayette. Deacon Ed Boes Officiating. Rite of interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Share memories and condolences at www.hippensteelfuneralservice.com
