Mary Jeanette Smith Bartley

Mary Jeanette Smith Bartley, 86, of Lowgap, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Born December 16, 1938, in Surry County, to the late Claude Howard and Maggie Amburn Smith. Mary was a faithful Christian, and wherever she was her Bible was always nearby. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Hassell Joseph Bartley; daughters, Teresa Hiatt, and Terri Reavis; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey “Jeff” Barneycastle and Jennifer, and Michael King and Mary; grandchildren, Jacob Gibbons, Andrew Barneycastle, and Andrea Stewart; great-grandchildren, Chloe Gibbons, Conner Barneycastle, Kinley Barneycastle, Kennedy Barneycastle, Jace Gibbons, Harmony Gibbons, Braydin Smith, Destany Stewart, and Nevaeh Stewart.  Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Aubrey Smith. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Roaring Gap Baptist Church. The funeral will take place Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Roaring Gap Baptist Church, with Rev. Joe Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
