Robert James “Bob” Ingram, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in Elkin, North Carolina.
Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, where his bravery and dedication were recognized with the Bronze Star and the Air Force Presidential Unit Citation. When asked about his service, he would humbly say, “I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Though he seldom spoke about his experiences in the Air Force, he deeply valued the camaraderie and connection he shared with fellow veterans.
A lifelong learner, Bob had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He could often be found researching new topics or reading—especially books about the Civil War, his favorite subject. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on puzzles and crafting with his beloved wife, Sandy.
Bob was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sandy Ingram; his father, James Clary; and his mother, Bert Clary.
He is survived by his sisters, Linda Ingram and Paula (Jeff) Satterfield; his son, Gary Ingram; and his daughters, Yvonne (Doug) Hendrix, Robyne (Lauren) Ingram, Tracy (Todd) Reece, Teresa (Jaymie) Davis, and Donna (Scott) Holt.
He also leaves behind his adored grandchildren: Kate (Aaron) Davidson, Landon (Kylie) Parker, Emily (Chad) Bradford, Alex Reece, David Ingram, Maisey Ingram, Savannah Dubs, Norman Ingram, and Jasmine Ingram; as well as great-grandchildren Owen, EmmaKate, and Adeline Davidson; Drake and Eli Parker; Baker Bradford; Kaidance, James, Harper, and Layla Clayton.
And a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Pruitt Health for their care and kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Ingram family.
