Mary Alice Bastien, a beacon of joy and warmth, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, in Taylor, Michigan, at the age of 69. Born on December 20, 1955, Mary's life was a tapestry of cherished moments.
Mary's journey began as the beloved daughter of John (Nancy) and the late Helen (Jack). Her radiant spirit was a gift to her family, and she continued to spread that light when she married her soulmate, Norman Bastien. Their love story was one for the ages, celebrating 50 golden years of marriage.
A devoted mother to her son Barry, who, alongside his wife Lauren, gave her the joy of being a grandmother to Jaiden, Liam, and Amrie. Mary's heart was truly complete when surrounded by her grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her boundless love.
Mary's siblings, Cathy and her husband Dave, Michael and his wife Nell, Carol, Jimmy, and Barb with her husband Richard, will remember her as the sweet, giving, and happy-go-lucky sister whose presence was a comfort and a delight.
Throughout her life, Mary cultivated a garden of interests that brought her immense happiness. An avid bowler, she found camaraderie and excitement in the lanes, her cheerful demeanor uplifting her teammates. Mary's love for conversation was unmatched; she could chat for hours, leaving everyone she spoke with feeling like the most important person in the world.
Her playful spirit shone brightly during Yahtzee game nights, where she was the undisputed champion. Mary's love for the sun and heat was well-known; she often remarked that the temperature had to be at least 80 degrees for her to shake off the chill, a testament to her sunny disposition.
Mary's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the simple joys of life. Her sweet nature and generous heart have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. As we bid farewell to Mary Alice Bastien, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the countless ways she brightened our world. Her memory will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends, guiding us like the warm, reassuring glow of the sun she so adored.

I'll cherish fond memories of my cousin Mary. Her laugh and her visits She would almost always have her American Tab soda in tow when she came for card nights at my parents house. Great memories also shared at every family reunion. Rest Easy
