Mary was united in marriage to LeRoy M. Bigelow on September 14, 1953, at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada. The couple moved to Charles City in 1955 where they raised their family.
Mary enjoyed having coffee with friends and spending time with her family. She worked very hard at keeping a well-maintained household and was a wonderful mother and caretaker for her family and home. Mary also worked with Floyd County Home Health Care from 1988 to 1992. She loved to listen to music, especially Elvis, and attended many concerts. Her favorite concert, of course, was seeing Elvis in 1976. Mary was a very kind and generous lady, with her last act of giving being a donor with Iowa Donor Network.
Living family members include her four children: Denice (Loren) Goodrich of Plymouth, Michigan, Nancy (Bruce) Biekert of Nashua, Jolene (Mike) Gesing of Postville, and Bill (JoEllen) Bigelow of Urbandale; five grandchildren: Joshua (Kim) Biekert, Kim (Geoff Hancock) Goodrich, Brian Goodrich, Jessica Bigelow and Carly Jo Bigelow; five great-grandchildren: Haley, Heidi and Henry Biekert and Juliana and Avery Hancock; siblings: Louise Amenson, Pat Olsson, Leonard (Patty) Foley, Margaret (Steve) Westvold, Barbara (Brad Fregger) Foley, Thomas (Ginger) Foley and Teresa (Lauren) Olson; in-laws: Rita Foley, Nadine Barela and Ralph Bigelow; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
