Mary Ann Bishop, known as Mom, Sissy, and Abu to those who loved her the most, was born on May 12, 1943, in Cambridge, Ohio, and passed away peacefully in her home on November 15, 2025. She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Yates and Debbie Perez of Port St. Lucie, as well as her grandchildren Joey Perez, Marco Perez, and Haley Yates. Mary Ann also had two beautiful great-grandchildren who were blessed to spend time with her, Damon Perez de Prado and Adrianna Perez de Prado. She also leaves behind her brothers, Robert and Jerry Messer, and her sister, Patti Hughes.
She was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Grace Messer; her brothers, John and Carl Messer Jr.; and her sister, Barbara Dixon.
She grew up in Miami, Florida, where she graduated from Coral Gables High School and joined the U.S. Post Office in the early ’70s, later retiring after 26 years. She was a sports fan who enjoyed spending time with her family, cheering for the Miami Dolphins, playing cards, and going to casinos.
In lieu of a service, the family is opting for an intimate gathering to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Jude’s or a charity of your choice.
