Mary Lou Broughton, 78, passed away July 27th, 2025 in hospice at a memory care facility she entered on July 8th. She was born on Sept. 20., 1946 in Elmhurst, IL, to Martin and Luella (Fiene) Bockelmann. Mary graduated from Glenbard West High School, Glen Ellyn, IL, in 1964. She married John L. Broughton on March 27, 1971 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Addison, IL. Mary was a life-long member of the church and attended grade school at the church's school. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2021. The couple moved to Prescott Valley, AZ, in June 2002. Mary had her initial job at Inland Books in Addison, IL, followed by a job at Meyercord in Carol Stream, IL. She then went to work at Container Corporation of American, which became Smurfit-Stone Corporation, as a purchasing agent. She retired from there in 2002. Mary was a wonderful wife and person. She hosted many a holiday parties over the years for friends and relatives. She was liked by anyone who ever met her. She had a big heart. Mary is survived by her husband, John, sisters Nancy (Steve) Layden and Janice (Late Ronald) Fuglsang, Jan's twin brother Kenneth (Vicki) Bockelmann, nephews Kenneth (Jenny), Eric (Diana), Shaun (Kari), Brian (Jessica)Bockelmann , niece Kelly Layden, nephew Jeffrey (Valerie) Layden, two great nephews and two great nieces. A private family remembrance will be held in Illinois at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 37 W. Army Trail Boulevard, Addison, IL 60101.
