Mary Magalene "Mag" Calvert

Funeral service for Mary Magalene "Mag" Calvert, 90, of Piedmont will be Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Piedmont Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Hayward Clark and the Rev. Matt Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cherokee County. The family will receive friends Tuesday from noon until time of the service at the church. Mrs. Calvert passed away Saturday, February 07, 2026 at Piedmont Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family. Survivors include her son, Joey Calvert (Jeremy) of Piedmont; daughter, Lynn Stinson of Piedmont; six grandchildren, Kristina Calvert (Meagan), Christopher Jackson (Jamie), Josie Chew (Bryan), Dalton Calvert (Allison), Jenna Calvert, and Dustin Stinson; eight great-grandchildren, Charleigh Jackson, Cayden Humphrey, Rilynn Humphrey, Caleb Daughtry, Delilah Jackson, Cian Calvert, Elijah Calvert, and Bailey Calvert. Pallbearers will be Christopher Jackson, Dustin Stinson, Don Ferguson, Cayden Humphrey, Mitchell Millican and Trent Millican. Mrs. Calvert was born in Cherokee County and lived in Piedmont most of her life. She was a graduate of the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Bind. She was employed for several years at the Industries for the Deaf and Blind in Talladega. She was a faithful member of the Piedmont Congregational Holiness Church for 50+ years. Mrs. Calvert enjoyed reading books and watching movies. She loved and cherished spending time with her family. Mrs. Calvert was preceded in death by her husband, Obie Calvert; son, James "Jamey" Calvert; parents, Jack and Josie McGatha, and 11 brothers and sisters.
