Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of Mary Eleanor Carrillo, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Eleanor left us on March 21, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family and in the comfort of her home. Her departure has left an indescribable void in our lives, but we find solace in the countless memories and the legacy of love she has left behind.
Eleanor was born on May 20, 1941, in Wattenburg, Colorado and was a beloved daughter to Jose and Altagracia Duran. From a young age, she exhibited a zest for life that was contagious to everyone around her. Growing up among her siblings in the Globeville neighborhood, Eleanor shared numerous adventures that she fondly recounted, filling our hearts with laughter and joy.
Eleanor went to Catholic school where she felt a calling to Christ to become a nun until she met the love of her life.
She met her husband, Joe Steve Carrillo, through his sister Barbara “Barb” Carrillo while he was on leave from the US Marine Corps in 1955. Where she exclaimed that she was going to marry him. They were married on May 3, 1962, and together they built a life filled with love, happiness, and cherished moments for almost 64 years. Their bond was one of mutual respect and unwavering support, a true testament to the strength of their union.
Eleanor was the proud mother of three children and five grandchildren. She is survived by her children Christine Rodriguez (John), Leo Carrillo (Marsole), and Valentino Carrillo, and her nurturing spirit was evident in the manner she cared for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to boast about their accomplishments or share stories of their lives.
She is survived by her siblings David Duran and Patsy Smith. She was proceeded in death by son, Valentino Carrillo, parents, Altagracia and Jose Duran, and her siblings Mary Lopez, Benito Duran, Miki Hernandez, Joe Duran, Ruben Duran, and Josie Serna.

The funeral service will start at 1:00pm, presided over by Father Richard Nakvasil, on March 31, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 901 S Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO, 80226.
