The family of Mary Christine Cartwright said their final earthy goodbyes to their beloved mother, sister, grandma and great grandma who passed away peacefully at her home in Coffeyville, Kansas, on October 14, 2025.
Mary was born on April 22, 1955, in Sacramento, California, to Arlo and Lela (Bright) Petersen. Alongside her dear siblings, Ruth and Bill, she grew up in Sacramento where she completed her education and made lifelong memories.
At the age of 22, Mary made the heartfelt decision to move to Coffeyville in 1977, bringing her family closer together. She dedicated many years of her life working in various food establishments, sharing her passion for cooking until she retired due to health reasons.
Mary found her greatest joy in the simple pleasures of home. She cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, often teasing them to elicit their delightful reactions. On occasion, she enjoyed the thrill of a night out playing Bingo or trying her luck at the Casino.
Mary will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her children, Jack Burrell and his wife Jennifer, and Margarita Eastman and her husband Joshua. She is also survived by her brother, William "Bill" Petersen, and his companion Kelly Hampton; her sister, Ruth Petersen; nine cherished grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mary is reunited in spirit with her beloved parents, Arlo and Lela.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, and the family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date. To share memories or leave messages of condolence, please visit her obituary page at www.fordwulfbrunschape.com.
