Obituary of Mary Beth Chiasson
Mary Beth Chiasson 12/3/1960 to 4/27/2024
Mary Chiasson of Ladson, South Carolina passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday April 27th, 2024. Mary succumbed to her illness after a year-long battle. Mary is survived by her loving husband Leo Chiasson, to whom she was married for 42 wonderful years. Mary was the proud and loving mother of Jeffrey William Chiasson of Baltimore, Maryland and Gregory John Chiasson of Forest Hill, Maryland. Mary was also a grandmother to Eleanor Rose Chiasson.
Mary was born on December 3rd, 1960, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mary and Leo grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts and met while Mary was in her senior year in Arlington High School. Mary studied to be a paralegal at Mount Ida Junior College and later completed her bachelor's degree in accounting at Eastern Connecticut State University. Mary loved her work as a Property Management Accountant and Lease Administrator.
For the first 20 years of their marriage, Leo was an officer in the United States Navy and Mary was a proud navy wife. During that time, they moved at least 14 times and Mary uncomplainingly shouldered the burden of packing and moving and raising her two boys during the time Leo was on sea-duty. She was a devoted mother and loving wife.
After Leo retired from the Navy, Mary and Leo settled in Seattle, Washington while Leo worked at Boeing. They later moved to Ladson, South Carolina where Leo continued to work for Boeing. After Leo retired for the last time, Leo and Mary settled in their home in Ladson, South Carolina. Mary loved to travel, and Leo and Mary had the opportunity to visit Vienna, Austria, Munich Germany, and London, England. Mary also loved visiting Hawaii and they had many trips to Maui and Oahu.
Mary also really loved spending time with all the friends she made in South Carolina and really enjoyed nights with friends enjoying board games.
Mary was also an excellent cook and baker and she loved to try new recipes and share them with her friends. She loved to entertain, and the Christmas season was her favorite time of year. She insisted that the Christmas decorations be put up on the day after Halloween!
A Funeral Mass will be held on May 23rd, 2024, at St John the Beloved Church, 28 Sumter Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483 at 2:30 p.m.
