Mary JoAnne Chilton

Mary "JoAnne" Becker Chilton, born January 20, 1933, to Julius Christian & Anna Louise Becker passed away peacefully on Nov 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Kenneth A. Chilton, her son-in-law, Michael J. Langford, and grandson, Nathan Chilton. She is survived by her six children, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, sister, Judy O'neil (Pat) and brother, Weston Becker (Maxine). Her loving children are Ann Langford, Jean Huckleby (Casey), Robin Rouse (Mike), Rick Chilton (Jackie), Paula Chilton (Bryan Mackin), Stephen Chilton (Lori).
JoAnne always made everyone feel welcome including neighborhood kids, who would knock on the door asking to play cards. She was the ideal role model as a mother – kind, loving, but also direct & honest with constructive advice. People felt better after spending time with her. Because she expected others to be better, they were. She is irreplaceable to her family, but her legacy is eternal.
Her Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4005 Dixie Highway with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Ratterman Southwest Funeral Home, 4832 Cane Run Road.
