Mary Compton Obituary Mary Ann (Woods) Compton, 93, of Senecaville, passed away Saturday (May 17, 2025) at OhioHealth Southeastern Med, Cambridge.
She was born January 19, 1932 in Hamilton, daughter of the late Demeree Woods and Orpha (Bishop) Woods.
A 1949 graduate of Hamilton High School, Mary worked at Miami University in housekeeping and also in the art department.
Mary enjoyed crocheting, knitting, working on puzzle books, and watching DIY shows along with old-time movies. She also enjoyed collecting angels and roosters. She dearly loved her two dogs, Polly and Lacey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Compton Sr., who passed away February 20, 2002. They were married December 23, 1950. Also deceased is her daughter, Melissa Wheeler; her son, Donald William Compton Jr.; her granddaughter, Melissa L. Compton; and her siblings, Demeree Woods Jr. and Iva Goode.
Mary is survived by her son, Todd (Shannon) Compton of Salesville; her daughter, Kim (Robert) Ball of Cambridge; her former daughter-in-law, Leslie Lanning (Matthew Foust) of Senecaville; her grandchildren, Angie (Chris) Jennings, Daniel (Maggie) Price, Misti Lee, Justin (Nicole) Ball, Arizona Compton, Korey Compton, Ryan Saffel, Treven Compton, Austin Cunningham, Forrest (Lindsey) Wheeler, Donald William (Becky) Compton III, and Cody Compton; twenty great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held Tuesday (May 20, 2025) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Evan. Mark Beros officiating.
Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
