1951-2021
On October 25, 2021 after a prolonged illness. Predeceased by her beloved son, Bradley L. Consler; her parents, Richard E. and Wilma K. Lewis; and sister-in-law, Kathleen D. Lewis.
Survived by her son, Benjamin M. Consler; brothers, Richard, Stephen (Lyn), Jon (Vicki), and Peter (Jennifer); many nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
After graduating from Marymount College and graduate school at Adelphi University, Mary became a paralegal at Nixon Peabody, then a trust officer at Lincoln First Bank. She transitioned into major gift fundraising with many organizations including United Way, the Diocese of Rochester, University of Rochester Medical Center, WXXI, and Rochester Hearing and Speech Center, raising much-needed funds for agency and community projects in the greater Rochester area.
Mary served on 7 charitable boards: Camp Stella Maris, as President of the Children's Institute; Matt Talbot Ministries; Rochester Rotary, as President of Rochester Rotary Charitable Trust; and the boards of Literacy Volunteers and Easter Seals.
She traveled extensively throughout the US, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and Canada. Her favorite foreign destination was the Amalfi coast. As much as she loved to leave home for an adventure, it was always good to be home again to resume her love of gardening and power walking.
Mary was extremely proud of her two sons, Brad and Ben. She often said that they were the best things she ever did.
Many thanks to Dr. Arpan Patel and his dedicated staff at Wilmot Cancer Center for their excellent care in Mary's battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, October 28, 10AM at St. Thomas More Church, 2167 East Avenue. Interment will follow at White Haven where she will be laid to rest next to her son, Brad.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory can be made to Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women, Rochester Rotary Charitable Trust, Children's Institute or a charity of your choice.
