Mary Ellen Carmikle Crow was born on July 2, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, Arkansas to parents, Johnie and Gertrude Carmikle. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 27, 2025, just 5 days short of her 90th birthday.
In the 1940's, when she was 11 years old, she moved with her family to Fillmore, California where her parents worked on the Limonera Ranch. Mary graduated from Santa Paula High School with a 4.0 grade point average. She met and fell in love with Kenneth Leon Crow at the Saticoy Full Gospel Church where they were married on Oct. 16, 1953. For many years she was very active in her church, helping as Secretary/Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, youth worker, quilter, and with many church special events and projects. She was hard-working and industrious. Even while having her hands full raising four children, she still managed to make dresses by hand for her daughters.
Mary worked for Pleasant Valley School District for almost 30 years as secretary for Los Nogales School, in Camarillo where she and Ken resided. Mary and Ken attended Camarillo's Crossroads Church where they were part of the Seniors Group. Mary was married to Kenneth for 71 years until he passed away on January 27, 2025.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Hiatt, Carrie Gentz, Kelli Crow and Jeff Crow, her grandchildren, Amy and Kyle Gentz, Michelle Slacks, Evan Hiatt and Carly Crow, and her great-grandchildren, Riley, Logan, Darcy, and Huxly Gentz.
