Mary Ann Draper

Mary Ann Draper passed November 15, 2022 at Towne Club Windemere in Cumming, GA at the age of 90. Mary Ann was born May 6, 1932 the youngest daughter of John and Emma (Tonyan) Freund in Johnsburg, IL. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Woodstock, IL class of 1950. In 1951, she married John (Jack) C. Draper at St. John's church in Johnsburg. After Jack returned from the army, they moved to Lake Geneva, WI. Mary Ann and Jack were married for 65 years and loved God, family, music and jokes. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, 4 brothers, her son-in-law Rafel Flask, 1 grandchild Michael Hornaday, and 1 great-grandchild Elizabeth Draper. Her beloved, Jack died Sept. 2, 2016.
Mary Ann was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and served as President of the Alter Society for several years. She started the successful fundraiser "Donut Sundays". She later served as President of the Lake Geneva Women's Club and was active in many civic activities. Mary Ann was an avid bridge player and, also enjoyed making flower arrangements in her spare time. Mary Ann became a realtor at age 56 and worked for Keefe Realty for many years. Mary and Jack moved to Cumming in 2014 and were members of St. Brendan's Catholic Church.
No one ever left Mary Ann's home hungry as she loved baking and sharing her favorite recipes with family and friends. In 2012, the "Mom's Favorite Recipes" cookbook was created which included her infamous chocolate turtles and many other German favorites passed on from her mom.
Mary Ann is survived by her 7 children: Emily Huebner (Dennis), John J. Draper (Nancy), Vickie Flask, Mark Draper (Renee), Larry Draper (Cherry), Mary Hornaday (Bill), Cindy Draper, 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Brendan's Catholic Church at 2pm on November 18th.
