Mary Agnes Draper of Smyrna, DE, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, care, and devotion. Born on May 2, 1928, to the late Anna and Steven Poore, Mary Agnes lived a life filled with purpose, compassion, and joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Steven Poore, her brother William Poore Sr., sister Ann Hunt, grandson Terry Lee Holland, her nephew Stevie Hunt, and nieces Sandy Poore and Patty Steele. Mary Agnes is survived by her three daughters, Lorraine Casteele, Lisa Jonson and husband Steve, and Lori Draper and son Lex Draper. She leaves behind five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. With 36 years of dedicated service at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Mary Agnes loved the spirit of caregiving, touching countless lives with her kindness and compassion. Her passions included dancing, spending time with family and friends, and deepening her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mary Agnes cherished her lifelong friendships with Doris Clark and Elinor Moore, a testament to the enduring power of friendship, love and connection.
A viewing will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 11 AM to 12 PM at Smyrna Wesleyan Church, located at 433 W. Commerce Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 12 PM. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Smyrna.
