Mary Ann Ebert

Mary Ann May Ebert, 73, of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025 at home. Born in Erie on July 22, 1952, she was the first child of the late J. Edward and Katherine Wargo May.
After graduating from Wattsburg Area High School in 1970, Mary Ann earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education at Edinboro State College. She went on to teach Kindergarten and 2nd grade at Klein and Clark Elementary Schools within the Harbor Creek School District for 31 years. Mary Ann profoundly shaped the lives of countless students with her patient, calm, and empathetic manner.
Mary Ann and Richard Ebert began their life together when they married on July 14, 1973. Through the years, their shared love of travel led them across all 50 states as well as to Canada, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Panama, and Costa Rica.
A lifelong animal lover, Mary Ann's cats and dogs held a special place in her heart.
Mary Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Rick Ebert of Erie; son, Charlie Ebert of Erie; sister, Sheryl May (Gary Fabian) of Erie; brothers, Jim May (Cindy) of Lexington, SC, Doug May (Linda) of Picayune, MS, Brad May (Laurie) of Marietta, GA; brothers-in-law, Gordy Ebert (Dianne) of Erie, Doug Ebert (Nelly) of Quito, Ecuador. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Terry Ebert.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the blessing to conclude visitation at 12 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
