MaryEllen Roberts (nee Eisenhart), age 80, of Akron, passed away peacefully Friday, May 23, 2025, at Ohio Living Rockynol Long Term Care Center, after complications of lung disease.
She was born October 10, 1944, in Akron, OH; daughter of the late Newton E. and Ethel L (nee Graham) Eisenhart.
MaryEllen attended Akron public schools, graduating from her beloved Buchtel High School in 1962. She was a long-time planner and enjoyer of the Buchtel Class of 1962 Reunion celebrations. She attended the University of Akron, receiving a B.A. in Art, and taught art at several different schools in her career. Later, she worked retail and was employed at West Point Market, using her artistic talent to create lovely floral arrangements and gift baskets.
MaryEllen Eisenhart married William “Hank” H Roberts, Jr. on October 8, 1966, in Akron, Ohio, at Trinity United Church of Christ.
MaryEllen loved art, music, reading, baking, animals and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed rubber stamping, singing in the combined choir at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and elsewhere, and is renowned for her Christmas Fruitcakes and holiday cookie assortments. She volunteered with St Paul’s Church at the Madrigal Dinners.
Preceded in death by her parents; siblings, John G Eisenhart, Judith J Eisenhart, David E Eisenhart and Newton E “Bud” Eisenhart Jr.; sisters-in-law, Betty Geiger, and Carole Schweikhart.
She is survived by her husband, William “Hank” H Roberts, Jr.; daughter, Amanda June (Andrew T) Lehmann (nee Roberts); son, Graham Hugh Roberts; grandchildren, Hannah J, John P, and Jacob R Lehmann; sisters-in-law, Jean E. Clark, and Judith S Diller; and brother-in-law, Duane Hughes.
MaryEllen loved spending time with her many nieces and nephews, who shared stories of ice skating in the winter and visits with her to Akron U for Sibling days. She has been blessed with many life-long friends, who remain dedicated and dear.
Memorial service will take place SATURDAY, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333. Friends may call from 12:00 PM until the start of the service.
