Mary Ruth Evans

Mary Ruth Pruitt Evans, age 82, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, at Eternal Hope Hospice.

Mary was born on December 6, 1943 in Homer, Georgia, daughter of the late Troy Pruitt and Mamie Ruth Dalton Pruitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shanda Williams; brothers, Harold Pruitt and Ronald Pruitt; sister, Diane Pruitt; and nephews, Thomas Pruitt, Kevin Pruitt, and Christopher Pruitt.

Mary was one of the leading founders of the Christian Women's Center and spent many hours becoming a certified crisis counselor for victims of domestic and sexual violence. An avid gardener, she also loved the outdoors and camping. More than anything, Mary loved her family and was the very best mother and grandmother any child could ever want.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Douglas Evans; children, Courtney Harris (Kevin) and Danica Corley (Mike); grandchildren, Tyler McCarty (Maci), Sarah Williams, Nicole Weathersby (Quan), Taylor McCarty (Whitney), and Kobe Corley (Lexi); great-grandchildren, Maddy Weathersby, Jasper and Ryder Corley, Willow and River McCarty; brother, Donald Pruitt (Kathy); sisters-in-law, Susan Pruitt and Carol Wood; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service in the chapel.
