Mary Gebert Obituary
In loving memory of our mother, Mary Sylvia (nee Koranda) Gebert, 92, of Lake Barrington Shores, who passed away on October 15, 2025, at Cedar Lake Assisted Living and Memory Care in Lake Zurich.
Mary was born in Chicago on April 5, 1933, to parents John and Marian (nee Baum) Koranda.
She married Ralph A. Gebert on June 14, 1952, and together they raised their four children. Mary was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of others before her own. She was a woman of strong faith who was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Wauconda and a former Sunday School teacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect.
Some of Mary's career opportunities included administrative assistant positions with various corporations including many years with UOP/Honeywell. Her love of music and her proficiency on the piano led her to become a piano teacher. She also was a Girl Scout leader and loved her flowers and gardening.
She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her children, Ralph J. (Elayne) Gebert, Ginger (Gary) Podgorski, Teri (Donald) Meyer, and Susan (Robert) Johnson; her nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marjorie Timm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Gebert; and her grandchild, Melissa Binversie.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. to time of Memorial Service 11 a.m. all at Messiah Lutheran Church, 25225 W. Ivanhoe Rd., Wauconda, IL 60084.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601 or to Messiah Lutheran Church, 25225 W. Ivanhoe Rd., Wauconda, IL 60084.
