Mary Janie Gorrell

Mary Jane "Janie" Gorrell age 83, of Parkersburg, WV went to be with The Lord on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
She was born August 29, 1941 in Mineral Wells, WV, a daughter of the late Richard Harold Roth, Jr and Hazel Elizabeth Ruble Roth. Janie was a 1959 graduate of Parkersburg High School and was retired from Camden Clark Hospital where she was a financial secretary. She was later a volunteer at Camden Clark Hospital and a member of the Lubeck United Methodist Church. Janie enjoyed spending time with her family and loved playing cards.
She is survived by her two daughters, Malinda "Beth" Wigal of Belpre, OH and Kelli D. Lewis (Derek) of Williamstown; step-son, Doug K. Gorrell and sons, Joshua and Jordan and families of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Chris Wigal, Gary Vierling Jr (Amanda) and Larissa Cothern; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ava and Logan Wigal, Trey, Colten and Alena Vierling; Reagan Cothern and Blair Hammer; one great-great-grandson, Tymber; niece, Jenny Lynn Joyce and special friend, Bernard Cothern.
In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her husband, David (Sonny) Gorrell, Jr and her sister, Judith Ann Doherty.
Mom had numerous friends and special people in her life who meant the world to her and brightened her days.
Very special friend, Bernard Cothern (Our Mr. B). We are so happy you were a part of Mom's life. You gave her so much love and were so good to her. Please remember her love for you and all of the wonderful trips and special moments you had with her. She loved you a lot and you will always be family.
Very special friends, Thelma, Carolyn and Lois. She so enjoyed her time with you and all of the card games, trips and heart to heart talks. She loved each of you and she is now able to remember all of those times. We are thankful you were a part of her life.
A very special thank you to Donna Mills and her (original gang) of caring, loving and compassionate caregivers. Donna, T'onna, Tori, Stephanie, Cindy & Patty, thank you so much for all of the love and care you provided Mom. The compassion and friendship and support you gave Mom and also to Beth and I will never, ever be forgotten and we love you all. Each of you have a special gift, please continue to give that gift to other families.
A very special thank you to our Nurse Amanda at Amedisys HH and Hospice and her entire team for your knowledge, your compassion and your patience. Amanda, you will forever be in our heart for all of your help with Mom. Thank you so much.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St, south Parkersburg with Rev. Rod Blanchard officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mineral Wells. Visitation will be from 10:00 am -2:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
