Mary Jane Moore Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 3 to Nov. 5, 2023.
Jane was born in Topeka, KS, to Dr. and Mrs. Mark H. Perrin. She graduated from The Barstow School in Kansas City, MO, Chevy Chase Junior College in Chevy Chase, MD, and Katherine Gibbs School in NYC. After completing her education, Jane worked at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka and later owned a children's clothing boutique in Houston, "jane johnson". Jane was a lifelong Episcopalian; a docent at Bayou Bend in Houston; a member of the Junior League of Topeka, Billings, Denver, and Houston; a member of the Opera Guild of San Antonio; and a faithful member of The Order of the Daughters of the King and St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

She passed away peacefully at home in San Antonio at age 95. Until then, Jane enjoyed being able to drive and live independently. She treasured her weekly bridge game with friends and rounds of "progression" rummy at family gatherings, attended church every week, and always accepted visits and invitations from family and friends. She read the newspaper daily and enjoyed reading fiction and nonfiction, working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and watching sports and British crime dramas. Jane was a joy to be around and beloved by her friends and family.

From 1952 until his death in 1977, Jane was married to Bradley Thayer Johnson of Denver, CO. Jane and Brad lived in Billings, Denver, and Houston. Jane is survived by her children, Anne Thayer (Max) Wier, of San Antonio; Mark Perrin (Pamela) Johnson, of Kansas City; Molly Johnson Brann, of San Antonio; and four grandchildren, Max Harris Wier IV, of Chicago; Molly Thayer Wier, of Austin; Hannah Thayer Johnson, of Los Angeles; and Linnea Perrin (Jeremy) Seidling, of St. Paul.

From 1986 until his death in 2010, Jane was married to Charles Eugene Moore of Chicago, IL. Jane and Gene lived in Houston, Detroit, San Antonio, and, for two years, The Republic of Moldova. She is survived by Gene's children, with whom she became very close, Mark Harrison (Martha) Moore, of Boston; Gaylen Moore, of NYC; Franklin (Jane) Moore, of Chicago; and Penelope Cake (Jeffrey Arfer), of Cape May; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial service followed by a reception, Friday, November 10th at 10:00, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 11 St. Lukes Lane, San Antonio, 78209. If you wish, you may donate in Jane's memory to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
