Ms. Mary Charlene Kagler

Funeral services for Ms. Charlene Kagler, 85, of Lake Murvaul will be 10:00 a.m. Friday September 20, 2024 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m., Friday in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove, Navarro County, Texas.
Ms. Mary Charlene Kagler was born September 15, 1939 in Blooming Grove, Navarro County, Texas. She passed this life September 13, 2024 peacefully at her Lake Murvaul home. She was one of three children born to the marriage of Charlie F. "Straw" and Mary Willie Collier Kagler. Charlene was raised and schooled in Kenedy, graduating from Kenedy High School with a basketball scholarship to Waylon Baptist College and received her Master of Education through Texas Women's University. Ms. Kagler spent her career as a professional educator teaching Physical Education and coaching track and basketball at the high school level for Katy Independent School District and the LaPorte I.S.D. until her retirement. Charlene loved woodworking, time with family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Doris Anderson and Sue Childress.
Ms. Kagler is survived by her dear friend of 47 years, Julianne Johnston of Lake Murvaul; nieces and nephews, Lyn Anderson Flanagan and husband Mike of Laguna Vista, Gary Anderson and wife Wendy of Kerrville, Christy Erb and husband Jordin of Titus, AL, Greg Childress and wife Ann of Las Vegas, NV, Edward Childress and wife Bridget of Florence, KY, Tom Childress of Alabama; numerous great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
