Mary-Louise Abbott Baker, 94, of Clemson, the widow of George H. Baker, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025.

She was born in Walhalla to the late John Colie and Frances Cobb Abbott. Mary-Louise was a dedicated educator. Following her graduation from Winthrop, she taught kindergarten for more than thirty years before becoming an assistant principal, proudly spending the majority of her career at Liberty Elementary. Her generosity and commitment to others continued through volunteering at Clemson Community Care, Oconee Memorial Hospital and Clemson Downs. She was a devoted member of Clemson United Methodist Church.

Mary-Louise is survived by her children- Karen and Jerry Carter and Alan Baker, the grandchildren she cherished- Emily, Anna, Allie, Griffin, Haley, Matt, and Billie Jeanne; her great-grandchildren- Ellesyn Louise, Finn, Olivia Louise, Harper, and Parker. She is also survived by her brother and sister in law, Jimmy and Carrie Abbott, her nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary-Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George H. Baker; a special friend, Bob Eflin; her brothers, Bob Abbott and Johnny Abbott; and sister-in law, Eleanor Abbott. 

A Memorial Service will take place at Clemson United Methodist Church on November 2, 2025 at 3:00 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mary-Louise may be made to Clemson Community Care (P.O. Box 271, Clemson 29633) or Clemson United Methodist Church (300 Frontage Road, Clemson 29631).
