Shirley E. Wilson passed away on October 14, 2025. Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Dublin, GA, on Saturday, October 18th. The family will receive friends at 10am and the service will begin at 11am. Pastor Ritchie Johnson will officiate.
Shirley was born in Six Mile, SC, on December 9, 1934, to the late Baxter C. Edens and the late Dessie D. Edens. Shirley graduated with honors from Furman University, majoring in Home Economics. She was married to her devoted husband, Ronald, for 64 years.
Dublin became their home in 1976 when Ronald joined Southeast Paper Company. Shirley soon began in-depth Bible Studies at First Baptist Church where God impressed upon her a heart to help spread the word of God through teaching 5th grade Sunday school and assisting her husband with ministering to young married couples. They also co-hosted a couple’s prayer group with many dear friends for over 40 years.
Mrs. Wilson was active in her community as a member of the Dublin Service League. For many years, her most rewarding service was volunteering at Save a Life. She was also an avid bridge player and doubles tennis player. She was loved by her family, friends and community.
Shortly after her husband's death in 2019, Mrs. Wilson moved to Clemson, SC to be near her daughter, Rhonda Hensley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Wilson and faithful son, Bill Wilson. She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Hensley ( Steve) of Central, SC, Patti Maffett (Lance) of Beaufort, SC, daughter-in-law Kaye Wilson of Little Rock, AK, son John Wilson (Carmen) of Irwinton, GA, and Grandchildren; Ashley Johnson (Ritchie) of Cleveland, TN, Alex Hensley (Molly) of Easley, SC, Michael Hensley of Atlanta, GA, Lindsay Mattox (Trey) of Little Rock, AK, Kaily Colla (Mike) of Indianapolis, IN, Natalie Ellis (James) of Beaufort, SC, Luke Maffett (Cortney) of Watkinsville, GA, Callie Delashmit (Ethan) of Brookhaven, GA, Brooke Thomas (Michael) of Dudley, GA, Ally Wilson of Dublin, GA, Landon Wilson, Maggie Wilson, and Montana Wilson all of Greensboro, GA, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
