Jack Furman McIntosh, born on October 18, 1927, in Columbia, SC, was almost 98 years old when he passed away on the morning of October 15, 2025.

He was raised in Charleston, SC, and moved to Anderson, SC, in 1956 six weeks before his twin boys were born. He served three years in the United States Marine Corps and attended Furman University on the G.I. Bill. Jack was the first cadet colonel of the Furman ROTC. He was an army tank platoon leader during the Korean Conflict. Jack graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1956 where he served as president of the Phi Delta Phi Fraternity, Student Body President, and a member of the Law Review.

Jack served as chairman of the South Carolina State Board of Education and on the South Carolina State Medical Board, as well as on a number of boards and committees in the Anderson community. He practiced law for over fifty years. He was also a writer, publishing multiple books.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lark, and her daughter, Genny; and by his four children, Clarke, Scott (Mary), Lawton (Anna), and Jane. He will be remembered by his grandchildren, Leslie, Marshall, Lora, Constance, Clarke Jr., and Carlson, and six great grandchildren; and one of his brothers, Norwood. Of all things in life, Jack was most proud of his wife and children.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Central Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Michael York and Rev. Noelle Read officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
